You may be tempted to give all the credit to the expertise and skills of Six Sigma professionals such as Black Belts, but what you probably do not realize is that most of their decisions related to quality improvements are in fact based on the collected statistical data.

Sometimes, personal experiences and gut feelings can certainly make all the difference - but when the stakes are high, not many Six Sigma professionals can afford to ignore the reality displayed by the collected and processed factual data.

How Software Systems Help

Software systems are proving to be a great help, since business processes have now become increasingly complex, generating voluminous amounts of raw statistical data that just cannot be summarized and evaluated manually. Software systems that are currently available have enormous data-processing capabilities, so much so that calculations that would have taken months if done manually, are now over in just a few seconds.

This helps a lot since it allows Six Sigma professionals to make timely decisions, quite necessary considering the fact that competition has increased substantially and that the early bird is often the undisputed winner.

The Various Types of Software Systems

There are many software systems that are currently being utilized in Six Sigma implementation projects - but if you have a closer look, you will realize that most of them can easily be classified into two broad categories.

In the first category, you can include all those software systems that deal with data collection and in the second, you can include the rest that might deal with data processing and evaluation.

How Are They Faring In Actual Field Trials?

Most of the software systems that are currently being used are playing a vital role in determining the success of Six Sigma implementation projects. Most of them have user-friendly features and interfaces, things that make it easier for Six Sigma professionals to access critical data and information, as and when needed.

The best part is that most of these software systems are designed to function in a LAN (local area network) or WAN (wide area network), something that allows all the stakeholders such as functional managers, departmental heads, country heads, and senior management officials to track the progress of the ongoing Six Sigma implementation project.

Also worth mentioning is the fact that all of this gets done in just a few clicks.

Software systems that are being utilized in Six Sigma implementation projects have led to a considerable reduction in the workload of all the stakeholders, especially the Black Belts and Master Black Belts. This helps because it allows these professionals to allocate more of their time and effort on vital tasks rather than waste it all on data collection and processing.

Additionally, since software systems are almost always more accurate than manual systems, these professionals don't have to worry about mistakes or errors in the data collection and evaluation process. All this contributes a lot to the eventual success of Six Sigma implementation projects.
